![]() Square is generous enough to let you play through the majority of the game, free of charge. The trial is basically a demo to see if you dig it enough to buy and sub. With all due respect, one last time this is not a free to play game, it is a buy to play with a sub fee each month. They give you access to nearly the entire game with your trial!!!! Theres always limits, but you can play through the majority of this game for free, i do not see why you are complaining bro. THIS IS NOT A FREE TO PLAY GAME! OF course they want you to buy it and sub, thats the entire point of its existence bro. Normally im pretty critical of square for obvious reasons, but this post and complaint is ridiculous I understand, but why the cap if not to make you buy the game? it's completely unnecessary. Im not sure how or why you dont understand how this works in life You should be GRATEFUL that they let you play for free at all. The trial is just that a trial, and they give you WAY more access to things than they need to. How is this scummy? Its a buy to play game with a sub. They could also use stolen credit card information but that's painting a money trail on them. ![]() The whole point of the online store's existence with boosts and all that is to appease players who might give their money to RMT traders instead of to the devs, to 'buy power levelings, ingame currency, items, etc.Īlso a lot of time these RMT traders uses the Russian region (or equivalent currency level) of Steam to buy copies at a ridiculously lower price range, if the keys to the base game can be bought on marketplaces other than Steam or Square Enix's official online store. RMT for FF14 isn't as appealing though, gil is easily plentiful and it's not satisfactory to buy your way through (if you really wanted to you can buy a boost on their online store). Most of the social features are locked behind the subscription, so if you do decide that you want to engage with the FFXIV community even more, you’ll have to sub.The reason why they add a cap is so that they don't bot with a account to max out the gil then use money earned from RMT to 'unlock' them to further trade the gil for real money.īots can hit the cap really easily on unlocked accounts, but they get detected also as easily, so putting a cap on the free trial means bots only caps out at 300k instead of 1 Million or so, giving them less value to 'buy' the game to unlock and dump the gil elsewhere.īut the fact that there was a massive sale for the base game of FF14 means a lot of these Bots got access for cheap if they make a chunk of money off RMT. That may seem like a lot of restrictions, but you’ll still be able to enjoy the entirety of the story up to Heavensward, and you’ll be able to check out all of the available jobs in the game up to that point. You’ll be limited to eight characters, with a limit of one character per world. You won’t be able to access the Mogmail feature. You won’t be able to access the in-game microtransactions. You won’t be able to access the marketboard. You won’t be able to trade with other players. You won’t be able to start a linkshell on your own, but you can still be invited to one.You won’t be able to form a party on your own you can be invited to one, though. You won’t be able to join a Free Company or purchase housing. You won’t be able to use the tell, yell, or shout functions in-game.These are the main restrictions you need to be aware of as a free trial player:
